Our Salon Waste Recycling Program

We all love the hairdressing industry, but we know it has an ugly side.


We freely pour toxic hair colour down the sink. We throw out used foils and colour tubes in the regular bin given they mostly can't be recycled. We even throw valuable haircuttings into the bin. 


At Alexander Jayne, we are changing all this for our salon through our specialist salon recycling program!

Being sustainable isn't just about the products we use — it's much more than that! 


Did you know a salon can generate up to 750kg of landfill waste annually? 


At Alexander Jayne, we're not only selecting products with sustainable claims 

but also integrating sustainability into our everyday practices.

Our goal is to be 95% -98% landfill-free, we achieve this through our specialist partnership with the Sustainable Salons Recycling Program

How it works

METAL

Our hair waste is recycled in different ways, including cleaning up oil spills and composting.

CHEMICALS

Instead of our salon chemicals being rinsed down the sink, they are neutralised and used as recycled water.

PLASTICS

Salons are significant users of plastic. To mitigate this, all our plastic waste is recycled and transformed into new, stylish products like hair combs.
